Understanding

By applying to PMI, the applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to the following responsibilities by the candidate if they are accepted to the program: The applicant must:

  • Agree to attend all regular Institute sessions on time and for the full period of each day. Generally, absences are not allowed. Any necessary absence (full or partial) must be communicated to the onsite instructor before the absence and should be arranged only for emergencies.

  • Be honest, punctual, cooperative, safety-minded, dressed appropriately per set guidelines, and willing to learn throughout the program.

  • Report all concerns and problems to the site instructor or an adult representative of PMI promptly to allow for issues to be addressed appropriately.

  • Log all hours of work and activity per instructions. (If applicable)

  • Abide by all rules and regulations regarding the program, work environment, and related areas and functions.

  • Complete and submit necessary forms upon acceptance, such as waivers, assurance of accident insurance, consent to treatment, student transportation agreement, non-discrimination/harassment agreement, etc.

  • Maintain satisfactory performance and progress in the program.

  • High School Manufacturing Institute Applicants ONLY: Applicant understands that the Institute offers both a 1-week and 3-week program. If the applicant chooses to participate in the 3-week program, they understand they must successfully complete the first week of the program to continue to the following weeks. Applicant further understands that completing the full 3-week program is required to obtain possible CTE credit, incentives, payments, or other monetary or non-monetary rewards.

  • The applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) ensure transportation for on-time attendance to the program location each day (including on-time pick-up at the end of each day’s program). They also understand that the location and time may vary by day and location (though we will do our best to provide times, locations, and consistency as clearly and in advance as possible.)

  • The applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to use program transportation to and from field trips to local businesses and locations.

  • The applicant agrees to report any onsite accidents or illnesses to the onsite instructor immediately and comply with all instructions provided by the instructor or other authorized staff members.

  • The applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) allow the onsite instructor and program administrators to discuss progress, concerns, and related information about the program.

  • The applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) understand that the program and related work will be conducted in an actual working environment and that this is not a school program. While we do our best to ensure the best experience possible, participants acknowledge they may work with others who may not have had the same background screening or training as professional educators.

  • The applicant understands that the Institute simulates a real production environment. Participants are expected to engage in full workdays, including ongoing production operations. They will be afforded a meal period and regular breaks. However, some learning comes from operating in a simulated live work environment.

  • The applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) understand and are fully aware of the special risks and/or dangers inherent in participating in this activity. Learning and activities are held in a shop environment and live-work environments. While precautions have been taken to ensure participant safety, there is no way to eliminate all risks.

  • The applicant agrees to comply with the rules of the corresponding school district (per the participant’s assigned location) and all partner sites for field trips (e.g., companies, colleges, etc.).

  • The applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) understand that The Institute is an independent program run in collaboration with schools, businesses, and other partners. It is not, however, a school program. While the Institute uses school facilities, participants are subject to independent rules and guidelines outside typical school district oversight.

  • The applicant agrees to abide by set standards and actively participate throughout the program. The participant also understands that failure to abide by program guidelines, actively participate, engage with teams, contribute to team outcomes, or otherwise satisfactorily progress throughout the program may result in dismissal. Participants who do not complete the program in its entirety may not receive designated rewards.

  • The applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to indemnify and hold all parties associated with the Production and Manufacturing Institute harmless from any and all claims, injuries, damages, losses, or suits. This may include (but not be limited to) attorney fees and other costs arising from injuries and damages caused by each party’s negligence.

  • All parties assure compliance with state and federal guidelines and regulations regarding nondiscrimination and harassment involving any employee, volunteer, or student based on race, color, gender, religion, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, pregnancy, sensory/mental/physical disability, or other protected class status.

  • The applicant understands that Wagstaff, Inc. and PMI will request permission to use their image in promotional and educational videos, print publications, online communications, and other promotions as needed if accepted. These will be used in promoting workforce development, primarily among K12 programs. Additional forms will be provided upon acceptance.

  • If accepted, the applicant understands they will voluntarily participate in the Institute program. They further understand that they may receive rewards, prizes, and materials for their participation that may or may not be subject to taxation. Participants and parents are encouraged to seek advice from tax professionals if they have questions. Participants are considered voluntary participants in the program but not employees and should not expect any tax records or notifications.

  • High School Participants ONLY: The applicant understands that any high school credit offered by the Institute is available according to the school at which the program is offered. While some locations may offer specific credit arrangements, participants should contact their individual school districts for more information about seeking high school credit for participation in the Institute.

  • If individuals are accepted into the program, they will receive additional information, including additional forms that they and their parent(s)/guardian(s) may be required to complete. Completing any additional forms, waivers, and related documents will be required to continue the program.

  • The applicant understands that these terms and conditions may be updated from time to time, either with or without notification. The applicant and participant are encouraged to review the terms and conditions regularly to ensure the most up-to-date information.
