OUR STORY
Let's Try Something New
The Production and Manufacturing Institute began with a vision - to inspire young men and women to become inspired as they explore the thrill of careers in advanced manufacturing. We wanted to do something new to the area.

We know that manufacturing is awesome. America was built on inventiveness, entrepreneurship, and a spirit driven by building things. Our ability to create sets us apart as a country, and many kids can succeed in careers where they can be inventive, productive, and do things with their hands.

Unfortunately, we do not have enough programs to provide immersive experiences that allow kids to learn about these opportunities. We talk about advanced manufacturing, but until kids see and feel they can "do cool stuff," they'll never know what is possible.

Doing Something Awesome
The Institute is built around the opportunity to expose high school kids to endless possibilities in the trades. We cannot make them better technicians in just 3 weeks. However, they will gain new skills as we teach them about functions related to the entire operation, from the customer through design, planning, production, quality, marketing, sales, distribution, and customer service.

They also gain strengths in teamwork, leadership, problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, hard work, and more. This life-changing opportunity allows us to let kids be kids as they dive in, get stuff done, and experience what it's like to be in a real work environment, making real products and having a real manufacturing experience.
