General Terms & Conditions
The following include some of the general terms and conditions applicable to candidates and participants of the Production and Management Institute (“The Institute” or “The Manufacturing Institute”). We have done our best to outline program guidelines and conditions within the following overview and throughout the website. However, should you have any questions, please contact us at: support@manufacturinginstitute.net.
Below are the general terms, conditions, and guidelines for applying to and participating in the Institute program, which are subject to change without notice.
-
By applying to the Institute, applicant and their parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to the following responsibilities by the candidate if they are accepted to the program:
-
Applicant agrees to attend all regular Institute sessions on time and for the full period of each day. Generally, absences are not allowed. Any necessary absence (full or partial) must be communicated to the onsite instructor before the absence and should be arranged only for emergencies.
-
Applicant must practice honesty, punctuality, a cooperative attitude, safety, proper grooming and dress, and willingness to learn throughout the program.
-
Applicant agrees to report all concerns and problems to the site instructor promptly to allow for issues to be addressed appropriately.
-
Applicant agrees to log all hours of work and activity per instructions.
-
Applicant agrees to abide by all rules and regulations of the program, work environment, and related areas and functions.
-
Applicant agrees to complete and submit necessary forms upon acceptance, such as assurance of accident insurance, consent to treatment, student transportation agreement, non-discrimination/harassment agreement, etc.
-
Applicant agrees to maintain satisfactory performance and progress in the program.
-
Applicant agrees to ensure transportation for on-time attendance to program location each day (including on-time pick-up at the end of each day’s program).
-
Applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) agree to the use of program transportation to and from program field trips to local businesses and locations.
-
Applicant agrees to report any onsite accidents or illnesses to the onsite instructor immediately and comply with all instructions provided by the instructor or other authorized staff member.
-
Applicant allows the onsite instructor and program administrators to discuss progress, concerns, and related information about the program.
-
Applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) understand that the program and related work will be conducted in an actual working environment and that this is not a school program. While we do our best to ensure the best experience possible, participants acknowledge they may work with others who may not have had the same background screening or training as professional educators.
-
Applicant understands that the Institute simulates a real production environment. Participants are expected to engage in full workdays, including ongoing production operations. They will be afforded a meal period and regular breaks. However, a part of the learning comes from operating in a simulated live work environment.
-
Applicant and parent(s)/guardian(s) understand and are fully aware of the special risks and/or dangers inherent in participating in this activity. Learning and activities are held in a shop environment and in live-work environments. While precautions have been taken to ensure participant safety, there is no way to eliminate all risks.
-
Applicant agrees to comply with the rules of the corresponding school district (per the participant’s assigned location) and all partner sites for field trips (e.g., companies, colleges, etc.).
-
Applicant understands that The Institute is an independent program and is run in collaboration with schools, businesses, and other partners. It is not, however, a school program. While the Institute uses school facilities, participants are subject to independent rules and guidelines outside typical school district oversight.
-
Applicant agrees to abide by set standards and actively participate throughout the program. Participant also understands that failure to abide by program guidelines, actively participate, engage with teams, contribute to team outcomes, or otherwise satisfactorily progress throughout the program may result in dismissal. Participants who do not complete the program in its entirety may not receive designated rewards.
-
Applicants (and participants) agree to indemnify and hold all parties associated with the Production and Manufacturing Institute harmless from any and all claims, injuries, damages, losses, or suits. This may include (but not be limited to) attorney fees and other costs arising out of injuries and damages caused by each party’s own negligence.
-
All parties assure compliance with state and federal guidelines and regulations regarding nondiscrimination and harassment involving any employee, volunteer, or student based on race, color, gender, religion, national origin, creed, age, sexual orientation, pregnancy, sensory/mental/physical disability, or other protected class status.
-
Applicant understands that Wagstaff, Inc. will request permission to use their image in promotional and educational videos, print publications, online communications, and other promotions as needed if accepted. These will be used in promoting workforce development, primarily among K12 programs. Additional forms will be provided upon acceptance.
-
The applicant understands that if accepted, they will participate in the Institute program voluntarily. They further understand that they may receive rewards, prizes, and materials for their participation that may or may not be subject to taxation. The Institute will require completion of a Form W-9 (for Independent Contractors) by all participants upon acceptance to the program. However, a Form 1099 may only be issued on behalf of the Institute if the combined value of the reward(s) is deemed to require it. Participants and parents are encouraged to seek further advice from tax professionals if they have additional questions. Participants are considered voluntary participants in the program but not employees.
-
The applicant understands that the Institute is offering high school credit (in part or whole). Efforts are underway to provide additional credit opportunities, but these have not yet been confirmed. The following credits are available:
-
.5 CTE high school credits available by transfer through East Valley School District
We are working on additional options for college credits and a full CTE credit. Additional information will be provided as soon as possible.
-
Additional information will be provided to individuals if they are accepted into the program. This may include additional forms that may be required to be completed by participants and parent(s)/guardian(s).
-
Applicant understands that these terms and conditions may be updated from time to time, either with or without notification. Applicant and participant is encouraged to review terms and conditions regularly to ensure the most up-to-date information.
